The Heart of a Grandmother and the Love for Animals

All our volunteers and staff are truly committed to our vision to help out our local community. So, it is to no surprise that some of them are also involved in other great causes. One such volunteer is Claire. Claire came to us a while ago and asked if she could take the empty beverage containers from our staff room and give the recycling money to the Burnaby Gogos cause.

The Burnaby Gogos is a group of passionate women dedicated to raising funds for the Grandmothers Campaign. Their vision; that the grandmothers in Africa who are affected by the AIDS pandemic will have the resources to provide dignified and sustainable lives for themselves and their families. A second volunteer named Carole, asked if she could take our unsellable blankets and comforters and donate them to her local animal shelter. Animal shelters run on limited budgets. Having a clean and warm blanket for their new arrivals to lie on is a welcome.

So now every week Claire takes our empties to supports the Burnaby Gogos and Carole picks up the blankets and comforters we can’t sell to her local animal shelter. Every little bit helps.
